Application Instructions
Thank you for your interest in being a One World 2024 Young Leader or Group Leader! Please review, complete and submit this application as soon as possible. All applications will be acknowledged upon receipt.
Applications will be reviewed and accepted on a rolling basis and selection will continue until the final application deadline of May 1, 2024 at 5PM (Eastern Time) or until all program participants have been selected, whichever comes earlier.
Eligibility Requirements for Young Leaders
- Age 18-25 as of June 1, 2024.
- U.S. citizen, permanent resident of the U.S., or current student at a U.S. university or college.
- The ability to face change and challenges in a mature manner.
- The ability to work with individuals from different backgrounds.
- Demonstrated interest in actively participating in all of the activities of the program, a strong desire to learn and serve.
The One World participation fee is $5,000 per participant. This covers round-trip transportation from U.S. point of departure to the host country, housing, medical evacuation insurance, orientation and a bottled water stipend. The program fees do not include the cost of vaccinations or visas.
Financial assistance, upon review, is available once accepted into the program.

- Age 26-35 as of January 1, 2024.
- U.S. citizen, permanent resident of the U.S., or current student at a U.S. university or college.
- Demonstrated leadership ability, including the ability to face change and challenges in a mature manner.
- Demonstrated experience living in and traveling to developing countries.
Application Process
Upon the selection committee receiving and reviewing applications, potential participants will be notified about their acceptance into the program following a phone interview process. Invited participants will be expected to make a commitment to participate in the program within 24 hours of being invited to join and each participant will be required to provide a non-refundable deposit of $1,000 to hold a space in the program no later than two weeks after accepting to participate. If a participant is unable to furnish the entire $1,000 within two weeks of acceptance, One World will contact the participant to develop a fundraising strategy. However, please note that until the deposit is paid, space in the program is not guaranteed.
You must submit the following to be considered for participation in a delegation:
- A completed application (Download form below).
- A no more than 2-page personal statement, which highlights your leadership abilities and motivation for interest in the program. For Group Leader applicants, the personal statement should also address your leadership abilities and capacity to organize groups.
- A current resume or CV detailing your experience and qualifications.
- Two written letters of recommendation. Recommendations can be either mailed through postal services or emailed to One World. At least one letter should be from a professor, advisor or employer.
- A recent photo.
- Those being considered will be interviewed.
